So as I reflect about going stateside, I keep thinking of how it will be different than here. I am nervous about so many things, but I am also excited about so many things.
Today as I was making lunch, I was reminded how easy it will be stateside to prepare food! One of our favorite meals here is pizza tortillas. If we were stateside we would go to the store and buy tortillas, pepperoni, sauce, and cheese. I forgot oil.
BUT here,
- I need to make sure tortillas are made and that they haven't gone bad because they have no preservatives.
- we have to thaw out the pepperoni and then cut it into smaller pieces so we don't use to much, and this is only if we have pepperoni from the states.
- I also have to have sauce made. (I usually try to make tomato sauce every other week).
- We then have to thaw some mozzarella cheese and then grate some. This also only possible if we have not run out of it from our last trip to Kampala!
Right now, this didn't seem like a big deal, but when I compare it to what it would be like stateside to make this same meal, I think, WOW! that was a lot of work!
I also think, maybe if I was stateside, I would just forgo all this work and I would just order a Little Ceasar's Pizza! It just might be faster and cheaper.
