Ride for Refuge

We are officially accepted by International Teams! We are thankful and ready to start on the whole process. We have moved into the Reformed Church Parsonage and working on our house to get it ready to sell. It seems like such a huge process, but we are taking it one day at a time.
In January we will be doing five weeks of training in Elgin, IL. Our children will be there two weeks with us and the other weeks we will have to just see what happens. We also have other trainings we have to do, but not exactly sure on all those dates yet. Our goal is to be going to Soroti in September of 2011. This year is going really fast and really slow. We are anxious to be there, but also don't want to start all the "see you laters".
This weekend is the Ride for Refuge! I have been looking at all our pictures and missing Soroti and the team that awaits us there. We would love to have people still sign up to ride. You just go to www.rideforrefuge.org and sign up under team "Uganda". Steve is the team captain. When we were in Uganda, we saw how the money raised at last years ride helped the people put some closure to the atrocities they have been through.object style="background-image:url(http://i4.ytimg.com/vi/SxeAadkSzxc/hqdefault.jpg)" width="480" height="295">
We are so thankful to have been able to experience this, but it is sad that these Ugandans had to go through this horrible time.
You may ride 5, 15, 30 or 60 miles. The ride starts at Byron Christian Middle School and you may start your ride anytime between 9 and 11:15.
Stay afterward for a lunch catered by Byron Family Restaurant. It isn't too late to sign up!
Join us on Saturday, October 2nd for a fun day and help us raise awareness and money for these precious Ugandan friends!

Training

Training at International Teams was great! We learned so much and were so motivated! It was great to see the headquarters as well and meet some of the staff.
Please also keep praying for our team leader, Tim. He is still fighting some major infection. Also pray for his family! You can read more about the details on the shaarda's blog at www.shaarda.blogspot.com

Training and Praying

On Thursday this week we head to Elgin, IL for our first training! We have been preparing for weeks for this training and are ready to go and learn a lot! We also are still not through the application process, so hopefully we will meet people at International Teams and we will know soon that we are official! Please pray for us as we travel and as we patiently wait!
Also, please pray for our Team leader! He has an infection that has gone into his blood stream and he is heading to Kampala tomorrow morning for medical attention. Pray for safe travel for them and that the infection will clear up soon! We know the Great Healer and we call upon HIm to heal Tim!! For continued updates and more of the story you can go to www.shaarda.blogspot.com . These are other teammates in Soroti!
