Pizza Tortilla

So as I reflect about going stateside, I keep thinking of how it will be different than here. I am nervous about so many things, but I am also excited about so many things.

Today as I was making lunch, I was reminded how easy it will be stateside to prepare food! One of our favorite meals here is pizza tortillas. If we were stateside we would go to the store and buy tortillas, pepperoni, sauce, and cheese. I forgot oil.
BUT here,
- I need to make sure tortillas are made and that they haven't gone bad because they have no preservatives.
- we have to thaw out the pepperoni and then cut it into smaller pieces so we don't use to much, and this is only if we have pepperoni from the states.
- I also have to have sauce made. (I usually try to make tomato sauce every other week).
- We then have to thaw some mozzarella cheese and then grate some. This also only possible if we have not run out of it from our last trip to Kampala!

Right now, this didn't seem like a big deal, but when I compare it to what it would be like stateside to make this same meal, I think, WOW! that was a lot of work!
I also think, maybe if I was stateside, I would just forgo all this work and I would just order a Little Ceasar's Pizza! It just might be faster and cheaper.

Kate's Court date Prayer Request

WE have not updated recently because we don't even know what to tell people! Hopefully you have all continued praying blindly as we have been. It is the same as always, we don't know what is going on! We are still supposed to have our court date on July 2nd, but the judge has been reappointed to a new location and will most likely not see any new cases. Our lawyer has been a lawyer for 41 years and the courts and hopefully our judge have a lot of respect for him. He has agreed to go plead before the judge and convince him to see our case before he moves to his new assignment. The court systems also have a holiday in July, which means if we don't have our court date on July 2nd, we will most likely have to wait awhile.
As of now, we have plane tickets on hold for July 24th, but we can change them if need be.
Please pray for patience for us, wisdom for the lawyer, and a kind heart for the judge. We are ok with whatever happens, but we are just feeling a little unsettled.
We are anxious to reconnect with friends and family stateside, but know that we will connect when God says it is time.
We also pray for wisdom on how to continue with ministry. We feel like we have so many new things we want to start, but if we are leaving soon, it is hard to get started with some of these things.
We covet your prayers!!

A couple of nights in the village!

We spent two nights in the village with our pastors family! It was great time to really connect and get to know each other on a deeper level. We had a great time. The moon was so full and the nights cool. We sat and talked into the night. The first night we were camping the monkeys came to eat our scraps. One even got into Pastor Francis' hut. We heard Pastor and his wife making noises in the middle of the night and in the morning we discovered they had had a monkey in their hut! So funny! We laughed and laughed! The boys went fishing and hiking while I stayed back and helped prepare food!
The second night, Steve slept in a hut and he had rats nibbling at his feet! I will never sleep in a hut!!!! Tents will be just fine for me!

The boys caught our supper that night! We cut them up and threw them in some oil to fry! It was the best fish I have had in Uganda, yet!

The boys love mangoes, but they love climbing mango trees even more!

Everlyn and Ashley shared a tent!
This is Pastors compound! It is very new, but it is so nice! And the thing that makes it so nice is the people!!

Serving up some beans and rice for lunch!! Yum!

Solomae

Many people have asked if we still have our monkey. Well we do, but we found out that it is not a he but a she. Soooo- her name is now Solomae instead of Solomon.  She is playful and loves to be let out of her cage. The dog and her have so much fun wrestling!

A walk through Pamba with the boys

In January we had a team of photographers and videographers come to capture some of our life. They went out for a walk with our boys and their friends one afternoon and these are some of the photos they took. Thank-you Ryan Guiles and Andrew Nicodem for having fun with our boys!
